| St. Andrew's is a tiny 13th century Church renowned as the final resting place of George Herbert (1593-1633) | St. John's is a much larger Victorian (1860) Church which was built at a time of village expansion. | St. Michael's is a fine modern (1957) Church built on the nearby housing estate of Bemerton Heath. | |

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Revd Simon Woodley as the new Rector of Bemerton with effect from 24th February 2004. Simon has sent us the following message...
The Church of England Parish of Bemerton is the north-western sector of
the city of Salisbury, Wiltshire, and it houses almost a quarter of the
population. It also includes the village of Quidhampton, which lies just south
of the Salisbury to Wilton Road. The Parish is bounded on the South by the
River Nadder, and to the East by the River Avon.
There are several shops and pubs in the area, with at least two filling
stations. There is a health centre and pharmacy, and 5 schools in the area - 3
Junior/Infant Schools; (St. John's, Pembroke Park,
and Woodlands); 1 Middle School (Avon); and 1 large
Comprehensive Senior School and 6th Form College (Westwood St.
Thomas).
Other Denominations are represented by a Roman Catholic
Church (St. Gregory's) in St. Gregory's Avenue,
and Bemerton Methodist Church in Roman Road.
